Meet Karen Wilkins

I have always been drawn to and feel connected to the metaphysical and alternative healing as well as the Native American way of life. It became more and more important to me as part of my personal growth to seek out these areas and to delve deeper into these avenues, becoming an integral part of my spiritual journey.

While living in Southern California, I was introduced to the energy healing of Reiki. It has had a profound effect on my life. It is the basis for all of my healing work. After living in California for 18 years, my family and I moved to the Greenville area of South Carolina. There I was led to enter Massage School and become a Licensed and Nationally Certified Massage Therapist. I have been working in this field for 6 years now. I now reside in the Metro Atlanta area of Georgia and this work has been my passion - it brings me great joy.

It has brought me to meet some very wonderful people and together we can all support each other in our journeys. It is because of my love for my work that I am excited to share this with others.

So, I invite you to meet with me and share in my work so that it may in some way bring healing and growth for you in your life.

Blessings and Namasté,

Karen

Reiki

Reiki pronounced (RAY-key) is an ancient Tibetan healing art rediscovered in Japan by Dr. Mikao Usui. Reiki is a Japanese word meaning spiritually guided energy.

"Reiki is a key that opens the door to your heart and helps you heal your life. Reiki is a journey to the heart and beyond, a gateway to the healing of suffering and pain, a path of deep joy and inner peace. Reiki is a gift that allows us to connect more deeply with who we are and to share this intimate part of ourselves with others in a loving way."

This life force flows within our physical body thru pathways called chakras and meridians. It flows around us in a field of energy called the Aura. This life force nourished the organs and cells of the body, supporting them in their vital functions. All of life consists of energy, and when symptoms occur, it is an indication the body's natural state is somehow out of alignment. Reiki balances and harmonizes by flowing through the affected areas of the energy field and charging them with positive energy. In so doing, the energy pathways are cleared, allowing the life force to flow in a healthy and natural way permitting the body to begin its own natural healing process.

What are the benefits?

• Harmonizes body, mind & spirit
• Releases stress, fear and emotions

How is Therapy Done?

While fully clothed, the Reiki therapist uses a basic pattern of hand placement down the body covering all of the specific areas of the body, both front and back.

Benefits of Massage

Massage is a gentle therapy that can relieve pain, increase lymph function and circulation, reduces inflammation, flushes out toxins and reduces stress and anxiety.

Massage also stimulates the release of endorphins, your body's natural pain killers, giving you a "pain break" and creating a sense of well-being. It enables the body to heal itself and return to a state of wholeness and balance.

Massage is an excellent tool for helping you to cope with stress. It improves your mental function as well as your physical function. Over time, massage can help you develop healthy and productive responses to daily stresses in life.

After vigorous exercise, a buildup of waste products in your muscles can leave you feeling tired and sore. Massage increases circulation, which removes waste products and brings in healing nutrients.

Reflexology

The ancient art of reflexology is based on the premise that our bodies are reflected in miniature on our feet and hands. By massaging these specific "reflex points" we can enhance our overall health and well-being. Native Americans hold a central belief that our feet are our connection with the earth and the earth's energies. Reflexology acts on parts of the body by stimulating the corresponding reflexes with compression techniques applied with the fingers.

Polarity Balancing

Polarity Therapy is a system based on the human energy field. It is a theory based on the five elements; ether, air, fire, water & earth as used in Ayervedic   Medicine. The undisturbed flow & balance of the electromagnetic energy in and around the body is the basis for health & well-being on physical, mental, emotional & spiritual levels.

Blocked currents manifest as tension, pain, illness or disease. With Polarity the blockages & restrictions are cleared and restored to its natural state of balance. Through light touch contact using various finger/hand placements the client may experience subtle energetic sensations which can be experienced as tingling, warmth or wave-like movements. The session may include profound relaxation & relief from specific issues & a sense of well being.

Sound Healing with Tuning Forks

Tuning forks bring your body, nervous system, muscle tone & organs into balance through sound. Sound alters our biochemistry & enhances all energy therapy practices such as Reiki, Polarity as well as massage and others.

By tapping the tuning forks, pure musical intervals are produced. The practitioner works with the tuning forks on or around the body which awakens the life energy of your cells.

Crystal Healing

Through the use of crystals we can bring about healing on all levels. Gemstones/crystals carry their own vibrational resonance and healing properties. I work with crystals by laying them on or around the body to help bring the body back into balance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where will the massage take place?

Your massage/bodywork session will take place on a massage table in a warm, comfortable & quiet room in a professional atmosphere. Soft music will be playing to help you relax.

Do I need to undress?

Most massage sessions are traditionally performed with the client unclothed, however it is up to the clients' comfort level as to what they prefer to wear.

Will I be covered during the session?

Yes, you will be fully draped and covered with a sheet and or blanket during the session. Only the parts of the body being worked on will be exposed.

What parts of my body will be massaged?

At the beginning of treatment I will discuss with you the desired outcome of your session. Depending on your needs at the time we may either target specific areas or a full body session.

What does a full body session entail?

A typical full body session will include the neck, back, head, shoulders, arms, hands, legs and feet.

What should I expect during the massage?

I want you to be comfortable and try to relax. I usually do not speak to you during the massage session unless I find it necessary to ask you something at that time. Some people like to talk during their session and that is okay. Please feel free to ask me any questions about what you are receiving.

Should I feel pain during my massage?

I always ask that you keep me informed about my pressure. If it is too strong or too painful please tell me so I can adjust to what feels better for you. I do not believe in massage being painful. Results can be achieved without pain.

What should I expect after my massage?

Your may experience freedom from aches or pains as a result of the massage. Most people will feel very relaxed. After the initial period of feeling relaxed, your body may begin to feel more energetic and a heightened sense of awareness. It is important to drink plenty of water to help clear the toxins that were released during massage. You may or may not experience some soreness for a day or two after massage as your body is healing.

Do I need to do anything after a massage/bodywork session?

I believe you must be an active participant in your healing session. One must not expect the therapist to do the work and then walk out of the session and not continue to work on ourselves. Healing needs to take place on all levels. Sometimes we need to look within ourselves, ask ourselves questions and try to discover if there are patterns that continue to keep us in this situation we find ourselves. Emotions play a big role in our health and well being. Addressing our issues and looking at them can help us to heal our bodies, mind and spirit. By doing so, we can improve the quality of our life and support ourselves by loving ourselves and bringing more joy and peace into our lives.
